Exterior
Truck is painted blue with white roof (bc/cc) Paint is appx 10 years old with some parts being repainted in 2023. Door and back window glass is in great shape. Front windshield new in 2022. All chrome (bumpers and grille) shine great. Rechromed at some time. Vintage speed (fog) light works great for that cool look. Side marker lights added at front of bed just behind cab. Power antenna on passenger side works. Wheels are 15” American Racing 5 spoke mags. 1956 Bird Hood Ornament is correct for this year truck. Cool right?
Chassis
Original 1956 truck chassis with 2nd Gen Camaro subframe. Subframe has been completely rebuilt with new ball joints, tie rod ends etc. Dropped spindles with Aldan coil overs. Front end aligned.
Engine and driveline
Engine is a 1984 era 454 block and has 427 heads (’68). Engine was rebuilt in 2023. Currently has less than 1200 miles. Engine was fitted with Howards Retro-fit roller cam, pushrods, and lifters. Bored .030 and crank turned 10/10. Engine made 450hp @ 510ft./lbs. on the dyno. For all that power it has a nice idle that sounds great thru the 2.5’ dual exhaust. Ignition is D.U.I distributor built to engine specs. Carburetor is a Holley 780 rebuilt and tuned to engine specs by Phil Cancilla of Custom Carbs in N.J. Cal Custom valve covers top it off. Transmission is a 700r4 built to handle the BBC. It has a Trans-Go shift kit with Bowler lock up switch. Lokar floor shifter. The driveshaft was custom made to hook up to the Ford 9” rear end. It is mounted to the frame with Chassis Engineering mounting kit. I opted for their traction bar kit that really lets the rear end lock up with no wheel hop. The 9” has a Detroit Tru-Trac Posi with 3.5 gears. Drives like an open wheel rear but locks up when you get on it. The best.
Other Mechanical features:
Truck has power brakes. Discs front/drums rear. Added an electric vacuum booster for constant vacuum. Brakes are perfect. New Borgeson Power Steering unit. New water pump with engine rebuild
Interior
Truck has bench seat from a C10. Seat folds down and has an armrest. GM seatbelts. Chevelle steering wheel on tilt column. Newport Engineering wiper system. Rebuilt Speedometer. Gauges are in dash. Fuel, Temp, Oil. Pressure and volts. Power windows with switches on the dash. Vintage Air heater with Defrost. Dynamat insulation was used under the new blue carpet. Super cool Sun Tach mounted to the steering column.
Other
The truck has been rewired with a Painless Wiring Harness. Breaker panel is under dash left side. Under the hood is a Holley Fuel Regulator connected to a fuel return line. It was installed for future engine options. Custom fan shroud was added to direct cooling to the aluminum radiator. Under 1000 miles on this truck. The above work was done over a 2-3 year period.
